Students on the BA Popular Music course got the chance to talk to one of Britain’s most experienced music professionals this month. Cally Callomon started out in the 1970s in the punk band The Tea Set before turning to artist management and art direction for Polygram and Island Records. Cally currently manages Bill Drummond, The The and the estate of Nick Drake and has worked extensively with U2, Elton John, P J Harvey, Pulp and many others. Cally joined the students to talk about his experiences in the music industry and to give some advice for those looking to make a career out of their musical aspirations, as well as to give some thoughts on the cultural value of Simon Cowell.
