The Olympic Torch is expected to arrive at about 10.20am at Weedon Road, Sixfields, and then travel through the town centre and on to Becket’s Park by 11.10am.
Roads along the torch route will close at 9am and re-open after the torch has passed through. There will be 49 road closures in place across Northampton between Sixfields, the railway station, town centre and Bedford Road (Becket’s Park), and where possible, diversions will be put into place.
There will be significant disruptions to traffic and bus services on Monday, especially in the areas where the torch will pass through. Please plan your journey to the University and allow extra time. If you travel by bus, please check with the bus company that you use to find out more about how your journey might be affected.
University-supported bus service 19, operated by Souls, will operate a revised timetable on Monday 2 July. The following journeys will start at St James Square or the Rail Station Forecourt as timetabled: 0649, 0719, 0750, 0816 and 0849.
From 0900 to 1230 service 19 will not serve Grafton Street, Spencer Bridge Road, St James Road, Rail Station, Black Lion Hill, Marefair, Gold Street and Drapery. Please go to Greyfriars Bus station to catch a bus to the University.
All journeys from Park Campus starting with the 0842 (Avenue Campus at 0856) will terminate at Greyfriars bus station, and will not serve St James, the Rail Station, Marefair and Drapery.
